Humanity, empathy, compassion – for the great cellist Pablo Casals, these were the essential components of music-making. Casals' ideal is reflected in a work from his immediate circle: the cello concerto by his brother Enric. Further musical entertainment is provided by the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and cello star Jan Vogler with Beethoven's cheerful 8th Symphony and Spanish local color in Pablo de Sarasate's virtuoso Carmen Fantasy.
In the concert introduction with renowned neuroscientist Stefan Kölsch, you will learn how Sarasate compensated for the disappointments he suffered in life with the passion of his compositions – and much more!
