Doppelkonzert a-Moll op. 102

Concert without intermission

While the war in their homeland continues, they are travelling as musical ambassadors for Ukraine: the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, conducted by Oksana Lyniv, has already given one enthusiastically received performance at the Casals Forum. They are returning to Kronberg for this year's festival, bringing Johannes Brahms' passionate Double Concerto to the stage with Ukrainian Academy alumni Dmytro Udovychenko and Aleksey Shadrin. Emotional warmth and empathy are hallmarks of Brahms' music – and it has been scientifically proven that his music noticeably reduces listeners' stress levels. Who wouldn't benefit from that?

Also featured: the musical ‘Seasons’, not by Vivaldi this time: colourful sounds for solo cello, flute and strings characterise the work ‘The Seasons’ by the young Ukrainian composer Mariia Khodakivska, born in 2003.
