AN DIE MUSIK

“An die Musik” is a concert about what endures – and what must be created anew.

Together with Pauline van der Rest, Noga Shaham, Daniel Blendulf and Torleif Thedéen, Hana Chang forms an outstanding chamber music ensemble. Arensky’s Second String Quartet opens the evening with dark tonal colours and lyrical intimacy.

Jeffrey Ching’s work of the same name, commissioned by Kronberg Academy to mark UNESCO’s 80th anniversary, turns our attention consciously towards the present and the future – expressing the conviction that a vibrant musical culture must not only be preserved, but continually created anew.

The evening concludes with Schubert’s String Quintet in C major, one of the greatest and most moving works of chamber music. In it, expansiveness, profound depths, consolation and existential beauty come together. An evening that approaches musical tradition not as a closed chapter of our heritage, but as an enduring invitation.

Please note that, in a change to the originally announced line-up, Hana Chang will perform in place of Janine Jansen, who has unfortunately had to cancel her appearance due to illness. Hana Chang, a former masterclass student of Janine Jansen, will take over her part.
