AN DIE MUSIK
„An die Musik“ is a concert about what endures – and about what must continually be created anew.
At the heart of the programme is Janine Jansen, who joins Pauline van der Rest, Noga Shaham, Daniel Blendulf and Torleif Thedéen to form an outstanding chamber ensemble. Arensky’s String Quartet No. 2 opens the evening with dark-hued sonorities and lyrical intimacy.
Jeffrey Ching’s newly commissioned work of the same title was written for the Kronberg Academy to mark the 80th anniversary of UNESCO. It turns a deliberate gaze towards the present and the future – and reflects the conviction that a living musical culture must not only be preserved, but continually renewed.
The evening concludes with Schubert’s String Quintet in C major, one of the greatest and most deeply moving works in the chamber music repertoire. Within it, expansiveness, darkness, consolation and existential beauty come together. An evening that understands musical tradition not as a closed inheritance, but as an enduring invitation.
