HARMONIC JOURNEYS

Three cities, three composers, three unmistakable sound worlds.

Mozart’s “Hunt Quartet” takes us to Vienna, opening the evening with playful lightness. Bartók’s String Quartet No. 6, composed in 1939 shortly before his emigration to the United States, carries within it a sense of farewell and uncertainty – and the experience of an artist forced to leave his homeland.

The final destination is Paris. Ravel’s only String Quartet combines refinement and rhythmic energy with luminous colour and a powerful sensuality.

For many years, the Jerusalem Quartet has been one of the defining ensembles on the international chamber music scene. In „Harmonic Journeys“, the quartet takes its audience on a journey through Europe and through Classicism, Expressionism and Impressionism – precise, concentrated and charged with emotional intensity.
