FÜR CASALS
Few artists have shaped the Kronberg Academy as profoundly as Pablo Casals. His name stands for artistic excellence, humanity and the courage to take a stand – values that continue to define the Academy’s identity to this day.
To mark the 150th anniversary of the great cellist’s birth, the Kronberg Festival dedicates an evening to Casals with a programme closely connected to his life and artistic legacy. Ernest Bloch’s From Jewish Life, Mendelssohn’s Cello Sonata No. 2, Casals’ own Rêverie, Cassadó’s spirited Requiebros and Brahms’ String Quintet trace an arc through music that Casals performed, cherished or championed throughout his life.
With Gary Hoffman – one of the foremost cellists of our time – and Chloe Jiyeong Mun, together with Kronberg Young Soloists Anna Im, Michael Shaham, Noga Shaham and Samuel Rosenthal, artists of different generations come together for a concert that not only pays tribute to Pablo Casals, but also brings his artistic convictions vividly to life.
