Guitarrallay: Auf der Spur andiner Gitarrenmusik. Benefizkonzert für das Kinderdorf Munaychay

In hardly any other region of the world is the guitar used in as many different ways as in Latin America - be it in the spirited Argentinian tango or the soulful Cuban bolero. But how did these different genres come about?

The theme of this concert is the guitarra andina (Andean guitar) and its possible roots in the polyphony of the Renaissance and the lively dances of the Spanish Baroque. Between fantasies for vihuela (Spanish lute) and huaynos from the Peruvian highlands, an attempt is made to trace a musical route that led the guitar to its home in the New World.

“Gitarrallay” - under this title, the non-profit association Herzen für eine Neue Welt e.V. is organizing a special charity concert for the benefit of its children's village Munaychay in the Peruvian Andean highlands.

The Peruvian guitarist, composer and music researcher Daniel Galindo, who once worked as a volunteer in the Munaychay children's village himself, is using his music to provide education for the children there.
