Die Instrumente der Mozart-Familie
The Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg keeps six original instruments by Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, four string instruments and two keyboard instruments: the Salzburg children's violin, the Mittenwald concert violin, an instrument by the Italian violin maker Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa, which Mozart probably acquired during his time in Vienna, and a viola from northern Italy. The fortepiano from the Viennese workshop of Anton Walter and a clavichord, which Mozart used when composing the Requiem and The Magic Flute, come directly from Mozart's estate. Letters, documents and paintings are used to present the Mozart family of musicians with a special focus on their instruments, while audio samples provide an insight into Mozart's world of sound.
